My name is Janet and I have two daughters. I lost my job when the small business that I worked for went out of business during COVID. I had small jobs here and there but have not landed anything stable. I lost my apartment when the rent moratorium was lifted in DC. We was evicted and had no choice but to live in our car for the past month. We have been blessed enough to have organizations help us get hotels and hot meals a few times. It is getting colder so we now need something stable. I am desperate and asking for the community to help me get my kids out of the car for the winter. I haven’t had a decent nights rest because I am up watching our surroundings while my children sleep. I have had many job interviews and I know that one of the jobs will come through. I found low income housing in DC that will approve us but we would need to pay first and last month’s rent. Rent is 1475 so I would need to pay 2950 upfront. I am also asking that the community help me purchase coats for my two children. I can purchase 2 coats for $100. The remaining money would be used to pay the deposit for the power to be turned on in the building as well as groceries and air mattresses. We lost everything in the eviction. We are starting from scratch and just need a little help. Thank you to those who donate or share. We appreciate it more than we can express.
