Hi, my name is Todd Richards, and I'm helping my best friend, Nam Vo, and his sisters, Nga, Nhikki, and Michelle raise money for expenses due to their mom, Lynn Fung, passing away from an apartment fire and to help her sister living with her in the same apartment get back on her feet.

On Saturday morning, July 23rd, 2022, Ms. Fung was awoken by the smell of smoke. As she walked to the kitchen area, she noticed a fire sparked by an electrical outlet. Ms. Fung's instinct was to put out the fire, so she and her sister attempted to put it out with water, but their attempt worsened the situation. The fire spread some more, and in an effort to salvage all her lifelong possessions and prevent the fire from spreading to the other floors, she continued to grab buckets of water to diffuse the fire while her sister called for help. Her sister ran out the front door while she stayed to continue extinguishing the fire.

The fire got too big, and Ms. Fung inhaled a lot of smoke, causing her to pass out and become unconscious. The firemen arrived and were busy putting the fire out. 20 minutes after the fire was extinguished, her body was discovered a few feet away from the front entrance door. No one knows how long her heart had stopped, but numerous rounds of life resuscitation were performed to obtain a heartbeat. She was rushed to the hospital after being resuscitated, where she spent the next couple of days battling for her life.

On the morning of July 25th, 2022 Ms. Fung tragically passed away.

For those interested in physically paying tribute to Ms. Lynn Fung, visitation is this Saturday, July 30th, from 8 am to 10 am at Cooney Funeral Home at 3918 W. Irving Park Rd, Chicago. A farewell ceremony is to follow at 11 am.
