Mother batteling HG (Hyperemesis Gravidarum)

Hi, my name is Brittaney Franklin and I am a current mother of three living children and currently pregnant with one on the way.

I am currently battling HG (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) its a rare form of extreme morning sickness that can cause weight loss,malnutrition, and extreme dehydration due to extreme vomiting and nausea. In contrast to morning sickness, HG survivors need medication, IV fluids, feeding tubes, or other IV nutrition in order for mother and baby to survive. Without treatment, HG can lead to organ damage and even death of the fetus or mother. Which I have already been experiencing organ and kidney failure.

Those suffering from HG typically become hospitalized or are debilitated from working, getting out of bed, or the inability to take care of family. This horrific toll by having hyperemesis takes on one’s body and soul. Not only am I starving and dehydrated and feel like death, but my mental health is very low, and I fear everyday for my life and the life of my child. My mental health has gotten so low I am in such desperation of feeling better I’ve even had thoughts of terminating the baby, which I am fully against. Which can explain how traumatizing this experience has been.

I recently just had a emergency surgery to get a picc line in that’s goes though my arm to the top of my heart. This picc line will stay in my body until the end of my pregnancy. All of the medications and treatments I will now be able to get at home so I don’t end up in the hospital or ER multiple times a week which was severely exhausting . Now being able to get these treatments at home I will also have a in-home nurse that will be helping me. The meds and treatment will be costing me over $400 weekly as I need this 7 days a week for us for to survive. This is so much information to take in and it’s very overwhelming, and also traumatizing for my current living children to also experience.

Funds will go towards in home care, & medical expenses while battling HG.
