My name is Amy Martens.

Elizabeth has been a best friend to me for well over 30 years. She’s been there for me through all of the highs and the lowest lows in my life. I never had to ask she was just there without question. Now it’s my turn to be there for her.

Elizabeth and her family recently received some news they were not expecting. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in January and today she is at the hospital preparing for a double mastectomy. She has a journey ahead with recovery, healing, and reconstruction. To say this has been difficult for her family is an understatement. So many unknowns, so much waiting, uncertainty, and added stress.

Days after receiving her breast cancer diagnosis Madeline was scheduled for a thyroidectomy because of suspicious nodules found. After weeks of waiting for results she found out she has cancer as well. Her treatment plan is still in the works. Madeline is finishing up her last year of high school and has big goals and dreams ahead for the future. This is not something she should be having to worry about.

As a parent I can’t imagine dealing with a cancer diagnosis and then to having to hear your child has cancer also. Through all of this Elizabeth continues to have a positive outlook and it amazes me how strong she is.

Elizabeth does so much for others and it’s time for us to help her and her family.
