"Motel": Towson Student Short Film

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Carolin, and I am the writer and director of "Motel." For more info, view my mission statement below.

"Motel" is a story about a young woman who takes refuge in a motel for the night after getting an abortion. It's a psychological horror that deserves to be told, but only with your help!

Our funding goal mainly covers the costs of renting our location and providing meals/snacks for our cast and crew. Anything you can donate will help us achieve our goals! All donors will receive their names in the credits at the end of our film. We appreciate anything :)

Here's more about who we are:
Carolin Harvey is a senior film student from Maryland. Last year, she wrote and directed "Prom Night," another psychological horror film about mental health and Covid-19, which has received several official festival selections. Notable awards include winning "Best Local Short" at the Soul 4 Reel Film Fest (Hyattsville, MD), the "Cranford Cougar Award" at the Cranford Film Fest (NJ), and a semi-finalist for "Best Horror Short" at the Virginia Emerging Filmmakers Fest (Winchester, VA). Carolin has been creating for as long as she's been alive: earlier works include entries at the Howard County Student Film Fest, "The Doppelganger" (3rd place win) and "Dreams" (Top 10 Finalist).
Dylan Powers is a 4th-year Film student from Maryland. He’s been telling stories ever since he can remember, and last year he worked as the Assistant Director and Editor of “Prom Night” alongside Writer/Director Carolin Harvey, which has gone on to be selected in multiple film festivals across the United States. Throughout his time at Towson University, Dylan has gained experience in various aspects of filmmaking, from writing to editing. Now, Dylan is incredibly excited to work as a Producer on “Motel,” his biggest project yet.

Kristian Chitate is a senior-year film student who has worked behind the camera on multiple projects. This includes acting as the cinematographer for short films "For My Flowers" and "Spectrums."

Maddy Rawls is a 5th-year film student originally from New Jersey. From the beginning of childhood to the present day, she has been involved in a wide variety of Fine and Performing Arts, participating in areas such as musical theater, band, color-guard, to other art disciplines like graphic design, visual effects, and animation. Maddy has gained extensive experience within both the Film & Art departments at Towson, and she is ready to take on her responsibilities behind making this short film!
