Mostly Muttz Medical Funds

Donation protected
Mostly Muttz Rescue is an IRS registered, 501(c)3, public charity that is an all-volunteer, foster based canine rescue striving to keep man’s best friend from dying alone in the shelter system.

At Mostly Muttz Rescue, we do not limit our life saving efforts to just those dogs that will be the easiest placements, but often choose to save dogs suffering from curable illness within the shelter system.

It is our belief that every dog, regardless of health, deserves at least a fighting chance to live, to love and to be loved for the entirety of their life. Our volunteers and fosters work tirelessly to raise funds but we often incur medical cost that far exceed our efforts.

Here are just a few of the many animals currently in our care with special needs. Please consider making a donation to help with the medical care and recovery of these beautiful animals.

RUFUS
Rufus is a 35lb Beagle who was hit by a car. He has a broken pelvis, a broken leg and trauma to his lungs. At the vet where he was taken in West Virginia he was on no IV pain meds, fluids or anything else to make him comfortable. He was suffering which is why Mostly Mutzz stepped up and a very dedicated volunteer drove to WV to pick him up and get him back to PA for proper treatment. Rufus is now at UPenn in an oxygen cage and hooked up to an IV for the pain medication, antibiotics and fluids that he needs. He will need xrays and further diagnosis when he is more stable. The decision to save this boy takes incredible resolve because his recovery will be long and costly. But MMR couldn’t look away. This could happen to any of our precious dogs and every dog deserves a chance to live and be loved. Please continue to share and help us raise funds for Rufus’ care.

PRINCE
Prince is a an adult mixed breed dog who did not have an easy start to life. He came into the Logan County Pound in West Virigina with a terrible case of mange and a very serious skin infection. If that's not bad enough, he also needed his toe amputated as the bone had been eaten away. Mostly Muttz took him in and gave him all the love and care he needed and deserved. Prince is all healed now and he recently found his forever home!

GUPPY
Guppy icame from ACCT Philly with parvo. Unfortunately, Guppy's only problem was not parvo.  He also has two heart conditions. First is pulmonic stenosis (narrowing of the pulmonary artery). While this is correctable with surgery, the second condition, tricuspid valvular dysplasia, is not. The cardiologists initially gave Guppy only a year before he would go into heart failure. With the proper care and early detection, it now seems Guppy will be with us much longer!  Guppy's parvo treatment alone was over $2700. You can only imagine the cost of all the cardiac analysis and treatment.  Guppy is doing well now and just found his forever family!

CLIFF
Cliff is a young pibble mix from ACCT Philly. Cliff was hospitalized immediately after leaving ACCT Philly for pneumonia. He was treated and is doing great.  His treatment was over $2000.

MARVIN
Marvin was just a tiny puppy when he was diagnosed with Mega Esophagus. He had surgery that amounted to $4702.15. After surgery, Marvin was with his foster family for a short five days before developing swelling and requiring a return to the hospital where they discovered that Marvin's mega esophagus was related to an aortic problem. Marvin's road to recovery has been very long and extremely costly (over $10,000!) but boy is he worth it! What a little love! He has stolen the hearts of everyone at Mostly Muttz and we are happy to say he is getting better every day!

BEAR
Bear is a 7 month old Boxer mix who was found in Philadelphia caught in a his crate door. He had been stuck long enough that he had significant damage to his kidneys and had a blood clot in his leg. He also later developed pneumonia from being in the shelter. As of today, his blood clot has dissolved and one of his kidneys has fully recovered, however, the other was not so lucky and needed to be removed. Badger's medical costs were over $5,000.

GOUDA
Gouda, aka Lily Grace, has already been adopted, but, but we still need to pay for her vet bills. She came from ACCT Philly where she was diagnosed with parvo. She was treated at UPenn. Her bill was just shy of $2000.

BADGER
Badger is a 6 month old pibble from ACCT Philly with front leg abnormalities. Badger had to have his leg amputated due to a congenitial abnormality of the elbow that cannot be repaired. He's now on the mend and looking for his forever home.

FELICIA
Felicia is a 3-4 month old hound mix that was hit by a car and then turned into ACCT Philly when her owners coulnd't afford to treat her injuries. On xray, Felicia has a fracture in her pelvis that will heal on its own and a fractured femur. The cost to repair her femur was just under $5000.  This poor girl also needed a very expensive surgery for a diaphgramic hernia.

BELLE
Belle is a 4 year old Poodle mix. After being abandoned by her owner and left to fend for herself, she came to us with bilateral cataracts and unable to see. This poor girl deserves a better life so we got her the eye surgery she needed. Unfortunately only one of her eyes was able to be repaired due to heavy scarring but we are hoping she will regain full sight in the repaired eye after recovery. The cost of the bilateral surgery is $4500.

GEO
Geo is a 6 month old American Bulldog that came to the rescue in terrible shape. He had Parvo and a terrible case of mange. Additionally, he needed surgery on his right eye to tuck the folds so he can see. Geo has been adopted but we could use help with the bills from his treatments and surgery.

ANI
Ani has had a terrible start to life. She was abused by her former owner - intentionally starved - and was skin and bones when she came to MMR. After being in foster care with MMR for quite a while, she became a happy normal girl! Unfortunately, Ani developed a hernia and was is in terrible pain. She has now had the hernia operation and also had to have a foreign object removed that was discovered while in surgery. Her medical bills were substantial. Ani is all better now and has found her forever home! We couldn't be happier for her!

GIZZEL
Gizzel is a 3 year old Doxy mix weighing in at only 12lbs...full grown! Little Gizzel appeared perfectly healthy when she came to MMR but started showing symptoms this past weekend and had to be rushed to the vet where she was kept overnight. Turns out she has Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis which is causing her a lot of pain. She will be okay in time, with the loving care of her foster mom. Her vet bills are estimated to be $1,400-$1,600. Please consider a donation to help defray the cost of Gizzel's vet bill.
