Hello,

My name is Susan Kinman. I am putting this GoFund me together for Mark & Becky Speck. Many of our hearts are so heavy right now. In times like these, we mostly want to know how we can show up and make a difference. In times like these, it is difficult for people to even know, much less ask for what they need. If you have ever met the two of them, you know the authenticity, acceptance, unconditional love, and hearts for service that each of them exude. Let me tell you a little about Mark & Becky’s story.

A few months ago, Mark began to have some new medical symptoms-erratic heartbeat, unstable blood pressure and blood sugar, weakness, and swelling in his neck near his thyroid gland. They continued to show up for commitments and to be surrounded by the community that they have built relationships with over the years. Mark went to the doctor and began having testing done. There was concern for cancer. A few weeks ago, the biopsy results came back and confirmed that suspicion. In the last few days, there have been new complications. Mark is currently in the hospital after having difficulty breathing and doctors being unable to place a tracheotomy to maintain his airway. The tumor is compressing his airway. It has metastasized to pancreas, liver, and lungs. Overall, it is inoperable. There are talks of beginning chemo. Right now it is truly day to day, and they are allowing a loving God to guide them. Mark has Stage 4 Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. It’s a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Mark and Beck are a true testament to a type of spirituality that many of us strive for. WE are broken hearted right now. Please send continued prayers for Mark & Becky and their family.
