My name is Chance Murphy, and for the past 6 years I’ve had the honor of serving as a Registered Nurse in the ICU. Throughout my career, I’ve cared for patients and families during some of the most painful and uncertain moments of their lives. I’ve witnessed strength, resilience, and the incredible power of community firsthand.
Today, I’m reaching out not as a nurse, but as an uncle asking for support for my beloved nephew, Moses.
Moses is only 4 years old. He’s the kind of little boy who loves being outside, running around, laughing, and playing superheroes with his little brother. He is full of life, energy, and joy — the type of child who lights up every room he enters.
On May 5th, his life changed forever in a devastating freak accident when he was run over by a lawnmower. Moses was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center, where he underwent multiple emergency surgeries in an attempt to save his foot. Despite the incredible efforts of his medical team, the damage was too severe, and he ultimately underwent a below-the-knee amputation.
Since the accident, his mom and dad have barely left his side. They have spent countless days and nights at the hospital supporting Moses through multiple surgeries, painful procedures, and emotional trauma that no child should ever have to endure.
As Moses begins the long road of recovery, rehabilitation, and eventually adapting to a prosthetic limb, the emotional and financial burden on their family continues to grow.
Earlier this year, my sister and her husband welcomed a new baby into their family and were already navigating maternity leave when this tragedy happened. Because of complications with leave approval, my sister has been placed in the impossible position of caring for Moses at the hospital during the day while continuing to work nights to help provide for her family.
In addition to the emotional toll, they are now facing overwhelming medical expenses and ongoing insurance challenges related to Moses’ surgeries, hospitalization, rehabilitation, and future care.
I live in Florida while my sister, her husband, and Moses are in New York, and right now I’m doing everything I can from afar to support them during this unimaginable time. I created this fundraiser in hopes of bringing people together to help ease some of the financial burden so they can focus fully on Moses’ healing and recovery.
For complete transparency, every dollar donated will go directly to my sister and her family. All funds will be deposited directly into their bank account to help cover medical expenses, travel, rehabilitation, prosthetics, lost income, and the ongoing care Moses will need moving forward.
Every donation, prayer, and share means more than words can express. Thank you for standing beside Moses and his family during the hardest chapter of their lives.
We know Moses has a long journey ahead, but with love, faith, and the support of family, friends, and community behind him, we believe he will continue to shine with the same joy and strength that has always defined him.
