Moses has water, needs income

Donation protected

I met Moses my first year in the Peace Corps in Ghana in 1969. I was 22 and he was 12, and our relationship soon evolved into that of a father and son.  I supported him through his teenage years and early adulthood until Moses graduated with a degree in public health, specializing in sanitation and water management. Until early 2019 Moses earned a good income working for the government, bringing safe water to remote areas of Ghana. From a scrawny teenager to a strong and responsible man, Moses married and had three children. He was the sole support for his family and many in his extended family. Each of the four times I returned to Ghana to visit him, I was proud of what he had made of himself and what a fine and respected person he had become.
About a year ago Moses suffered a stroke and lost speech and the use of one side of his body. Two months later he fell and broke his hip. Facing mounting medical bills and no longer able to work, Moses needed my financial (and moral) help. Through Western Union I've managed to keep him and his family afloat. But I cannot support  him forever.
How to make money when he can't do physical work? Moses decided he would use the bore hole in front of his house, pump water into a tank on his roof, and sell  water at affordable prices to others in his village. It is ironic and fitting that it may be water that saves him and his family.
This fundraising campaign is to provide the funds for a tank, pump, pipes, accessories, and the labor needed to build it out.
I am now 73 and Moses is 63. I would love to support him in this time of his greatest need and bring dignity back to his life.
