My Home. My Story. My Fight for Justice.
Help Me Save My Home
My name is Carole June Curtis. I am 83 years old, and after a lifetime of working hard, building businesses and owning my own home, I am now fighting to keep the roof over my head.
Over the past three years, I became the victim of what I believe was a sophisticated financial deception that has devastated my life.
My home is now burdened with a mortgage of $766,500, together with a default demand and costs of approximately $39,500.
In addition, my name was used to incur further liabilities of approximately $870,000, while around $600,000 of my life savings disappeared.
The sales and promotional concepts I had spent years developing in the United Kingdom were also destroyed, taking with them the future I had worked so hard to build.
Today, I find myself in the middle of an exhausting legal battle to save my home and seek justice.
I have been incredibly fortunate that my barrister s have agreed to represent me pro bono, but my solicitor's work must still be paid for.
My brother has already spent approximately $45,000 helping me meet those legal costs, and the expenses continue to grow. I cannot continue asking him to carry that burden alone. He is87 years old.
The financial consequences have affected every part of my life.
My car was pawned, leaving me without any independent transport. At my age, losing my car has meant losing my independence. I can no longer visit friends, attend appointments without relying on others, or simply enjoy the freedom of going out whenever I choose.
Most days I feel like a caged canary, confined within the same four walls while the world carries on outside.
My immediate priority is raising enough money to continue my legal fight to save my home.
If sufficient funds are raised beyond my legal expenses, I hope to purchase a modest, reliable second-hand car so that I can regain some independence while this legal battle continues.
Many people first learned about my story through Seven News - https://bit.ly/3TI9Mv9 - and more recently through my TikTok videos, where thousands of people have shown me extraordinary kindness, encouragement and support.
Their belief in me has given me the strength to keep fighting, not only for myself but in the hope that my story will help raise awareness of elder financial abuse and prevent others from experiencing what has happened to me.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help me continue this fight. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing my story with others would mean more to me than I can express.
After a lifetime of standing on my own two feet, asking for help is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. But today I have no other choice.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, for believing in me, and for helping me fight to save my home.
With my heartfelt thanks,
Carole June Curtis
