Hey, my name is Belle and I’m putting out a call for help in raising funds to help pay for my cat’s sudden and urgent medical care.
On Monday 5th of February at 9pm, my cat Morph suddenly went into an episode of extreme pain. After rushing him to the after hours emergency vet they deduced that he most likely had FIC (feline idiopathic cystitis). By 12am we were able to go home with heavy pain relief for him, as well as some medication to keep him calm and told to keep a very close eye on him. Tuesday morning he was showing signs of getting worse so at 9am (12 hours since first presenting at the vet) we were back, and Morph has been at the vet since. It is likely he will be there for 5 days in total, but nothing is guaranteed. While Morph’s condition is no longer critical, it is a condition that causes inflammation of his bladder and urethra, as well as the forming of crystals in his bladder that cause tearing, and will require permanent ongoing care for the rest of his life.
Morph has been part of my life since he was a week old, and is still only young, having just turned 2 years old in September. I am determined to make his home life as suitable to managing this condition as possible; while providing him with nothing but the most love and support I can, including whatever he needs in the way of ongoing medical treatment, as it is likely these episodes will occur again from time to time.
I myself am battling multiple chronic health conditions, so financially am being stretched beyond what I am capable of comprehending, hence why I am putting this out as a plea for any support that may be out there.
We are needing at a minimum of $3000 to cover his current vet stay, catheterisation surgery, and medication, however this is expected to increase up to $5000, once we have covered the medications he will need to be bringing home with him, his diet changes, and any additional days in hospital.
This episode of Morph’s has not only been horrifying and distressing, but also a complete shock as he has never had any signs of health issues before this. He also no longer qualifies for pet insurance coverage due to this now being a pre existing condition. Currently, with the operation for his catheterisation, blood work, and hospital stay, it is estimated that this recent vet bills will be between 3-5k, not to mention the additional costs of his on going treatment and medications once he is able to return home.
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this and getting the word out would be greatly appreciated. We just want Morph home and healthy, back to his usual bouncy self.
And thank you for taking the time to read this ❤️ - Belle & Morph
