SOLIDARITY FOR MOROCCO

Ladera Patisserie is a French business based in Menlo Park, CA, whose owners, Fateha & Mustapha are originally from Morocco.

The southern city of Marrakesh and the villages along the high Atlas mountains up to the town of Taroudant, were hit by an earthquake during the night of Friday 8th of September.

So far, this unfortunate tragedy has left more than 2122 deaths and 2421 injured, among them 1404 in critical condition.

The large numbers of these heart breaking casualties happened throughout the high Atlas villages between Marrakesh and Taroudant, where the road access is really difficult and the health emergency facilities are scarce.

Since this tragedy happened, we have been in a state of shock, saddened by this unfortunate natural disaster, but we felt it is time to face it and gather our strength to help as much as we can, even in a modest way.

For the last 2 days, we have been in contact with families and friends there to establish a help channel in order to supply the villages with water, food, tents and blankets.

Nights in the Atlas mountains can be extremely cold, as some of you who traveled there can remember and the sad thing is that some villages were completely wiped out of the map and yet so far the local government were very slow to react.

Fateha Id boubrik is now in direct communication with Abdelilah Khenniba, her brother-in-law who organized a direct help channel for those affected areas. He is familiar with the villages of the Atlas Mountains in the Province of Taroudant. Abdelilah traveled to this affected villages in order to collect information regarding the primary needs of the villagers.

We are hoping to raise enough money that will be sent to Morocco to our help coordinator who will buy water, food, tents, and blankets and distribute them directly to the most affected villages in the High Atlas mountains in the Province of Taroudant.
