Morningstar's Liver Stars

Hi Everyone: I'm Pam Kane, and I am helping Mark Morningstar on his journey to find a new liver. Mark was diagnosed with liver cancer in December 2021. He has two tumors on his liver and has recently been put on the liver transplant list at UPMC - Pittsburgh.

Mark needs a liver and is currently on the list awaiting a live donation. He has already been called in the middle of the night and summoned to Pittsburgh. As you might believe and understand, driving three and a half hours, with gas prices over $4 a gallon and ultimately anti-rejection meds, Mark will need some help from all of us to be able to make this transplant successful. To become a live donor, you need to be between the ages of 18 and 55. If you can't give a piece of your liver, you can always help with a financial donation to help cover the costs Mark will incur on his journey.

Mark has taught kids for over 30 years. He's been like a second father to so many that we've lost count. He is always there when someone else needs help and now it's our turn to help him.

Here's some of the key guidelines you'll need to understand to be a live donor:

You have to be between the ages of 18 and 55 and In fairly good health.

You'll also be asked if you aren't a match if you'd like to donate to someone else.

Once you're registered, you'll be contacted by a living-donor coordinator. They'll go over your medical history etc.
