Morning Rush - A Short Thriller by Isaac D. Gonzalez

My name is Isaac D. Gonzalez, and I have a vision. Not too long ago, I worked a dead end job at a major café chain that likely took years off my life. However, it taught me a lot of things. What I found most striking was the strange community we built working with and serving the same people every day. We tolerated each other, and occasionally even liked one another, but for every moment of warmth there was an equal amount of conflict. I wanted to see what would happen if I took my café family and dropped them into extreme circumstances.
Morning Rush is a single location thriller set in local café, stricken with paranoia when a mysterious agent arrives, warning of a man infected with a deadly virus. The situation quickly escalates into a bloodbath as the patrons run out of reasons to trust one another.
Inspired by chamber thrillers like The Hateful Eight and High and Low, we're looking to create an edge of your seat experience all within the four walls of a café. Our visual language combines the distant, sober intensity of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Cure and the confrontational, off kilter visuals of Do The Right Thing.
The café is a character of its own; inspired by the cozy atmosphere of Twin Peaks' Great Northern Hotel, the Black Lodge Café is a deceptively welcoming battleground for the impending spiral of violence. In order to capture the right atmosphere and have total control over our shoot, we are building our cafe from scratch.
In order to deliver an intense, darkly funny tale of paranoia and distrust, we need your help to do this the right way. This will be a large undertaking; among the usual production expenses, we have a large cast, we're building our set from the ground up, and the film will feature many instances of practical special effects.
We hope our project has caught your eye and would love for you to be part of our journey.
