Welcome to Ab Ovo's Gofundme for their first production! From the playwright who wrote Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and Punk Rock comes the New York premiere of Morning by Simon Stephens. Coming September 19-23, 2019 at Alchemical Theatre Laboratory.
A little bit about Ab Ovo's mission: Committed to the young artist, Ab Ovo seeks to provide a space for thoughtful, stimulating work for those navigating the inevitable obstacles of the business. With collaboration at the heart of the company, we hope to create a multidisciplinary network- from actors and directors to playwrights and production managers, Ab Ovo wants to give you the tools you need to build your creative vision, not sacrifice it.
What we do: Ab Ovo produces both theatre and film. We hope to play with the intimacies between the two in order to achieve a diverse and well rounded creative vision. Our productions are largely funded by gallery events, film screenings and concerts, each involving exclusively young artists.
What’s behind the name: The Latin word Ab Ovo means “from the very beginning, or from the egg.” At Ab Ovo, the bare page will grow into new life on stage and screen. And as the company moves forward in its endeavors, the writing of each play or film will also be original, or from the very beginning.
What exactly Ab Ovo needs funding for:
- rehearsal space
- performance space
- costume design
- set design
- spaces for our upcoming fundraisers
- pay for our actors and crew! These people work so hard, and almost all work additional jobs to pay their rent. It is extremely important to Ab Ovo that those who work for us are supported financially.
