Morley Town – 3 Peaks Challenge
On the 31st August a group of our players and coaches will be tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, a 24 mile round trip taking around 12 hours to complete. Whilst a great personal achievement for those taking part, we are doing this to fundraise money for charity and the club, something we have committed to doing each season.
Those taking part all have ties to different charities and causes and so this year we are splitting the funds raised 4 ways, providing an additional incentive to raise as much as possible.
We are fundraising for:
Maggies – Cancer Care Charity
Maggies provide support to families and individuals dealing with the consequences and hardships of all things cancer, including diagnosis, caring for people, treatment advice and end of life support.
Ward L52 Paediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery
This ward have provided our group with nothing short of a miracle, saving the life of our player and friends’ daughter, who at 12 years old suffered a major bleed on the brain and subsequent surgeries to save her life. Her progress and recovery has been incredible and that is largely down to the amazing work the surgeons and this specific ward performed for Maddie.
Andys Man Club – Mens Mental Health Charity
In England and Wales, 12 men will lose their life to suicide every day. For every fatal attempt there are 20 attempts made. As a man in the UK, the single largest cause of death for under 50’s is suicide. The stats for men’s mental health are a truly grim read, at Morley Town we hope to provide an outlet for men to come and play football, exercise, socialise and feel part of a team and community. For those that need extra help, Andy’s Man club will help them through it.
Morley Town AFC
A community club with 3 senior sides to accommodate all levels of ability and aspirations, as well as U23’s and U18’s to provide that gateway in to men’s football. We must fundraise all year round to ensure we make our football affordable and accessible to all, so every little helps.
