Mork's Story: the Cat with no Tail and Heart Full of Love
Donation protected
Mork was a black-and-white tuxedo cat who was born on September 10, 2018 and passed away on March 9, 2025, due to aggressive cancer. He was 6 1/2. This GoFundMe is to help cover the cost of emergency medical treatments at the end of his life and his cremation.
Mork had the sweetest personality a cat could have, and I say that as someone who's had seven cats over many years. He never met another living being he didn't love (except for small bugs, which he ate). He never bit or scratched anyone, or even hissed once in his life. It would never occur to him to do that.
Mork had a very difficult and traumatic past as a young kitten in Kentucky, where he was originally from. Due to an act of human cruelty, he lost his tail and suffered multiple fevers and surgeries. His kind foster family brought him back to health and he eventually moved to Chicago, where he got to meet many other loving kittens at the wonderful Catcade Cat Cafe & Rescue , including his future orange "brother", Vinnie.
On June 24, 2019, I adopted Mork and Vinnie together and brought them home for the first time. I decided not to change Mork's unusual name because it felt like a good fit for him. At first, Mork was extremely quiet and made no sounds at all, not even for food or play or when getting an injury. It took some years, but he eventually found his voice and grew very confident about using it. It's the thing I'm most proud of him for.
Mork deserved to be spoiled rotten every day of his life. He had a best friend and brother in Vinnie, who groomed him, wrestled with him, and slept with him almost every day. Mork loved to play with plastic balls, grab drawstrings from pants, and lie in laps or open windows. He loved to jump up to very high places like the top of bookshelves or kitchen cabinets. He liked to eat unusual foods like peas, asparagus, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. He also loved licking Carmex, and would meow each morning until Ally put some on so he could lick the residue from her fingers. He loved when people visited and was always curious to meet them, but he hated sneezing and would meow in protest whenever someone sneezed.
Mork was very intelligent, and sometimes would use his brain to deliberately be a little stinker. He loved sitting on scratching boards but scratching on carpet. When it was time to eat, he knew he could get my attention by pawing at window curtains with his claws. He loved to reach his long paws into the kitchen sink drain and pull up any bits of food he could find. He would smack coasters with his paw until they fell on the floor. He wasn't allowed in the bedroom at night, but occasionally he would hide under the bed until nighttime so he could sleep there clandestinely.
Mork was very loved and will be deeply missed by his brother, Vinnie, and his human parents, Ally & Alan.
