Morken Family Infertility Journey

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

Many of you have had the joy of meeting our little girl, Jolene. She's a total delight: Vibrant, expressive, cheery and, until 12 weeks in-utero, a twin. Many of you aren't aware that she was conceived  after seeking council and medical help for infertility, which was thankfully successful after only our first round of infertility treatment.

If you've known us for a while, or had a chance to talk to us about future plans and dreams, you may already know that it includes (Lord willing!) many, many children. And if you've met our little girl, Jolene, you can see why.

We would love to have another baby. Maybe, hopefully, even twins.  However, out of necessity, we abruptly changed our health insurance and no longer have coverage for infertility specialists.

It's our first choice that we have our children close in age. But given time, we could feasibly come up with the money needed to pay out-of-pocket for infertility treatments. Why then the urgency?

Before we foresaw our insurance change, we began the long, emotionally draining process of infertility treatment. If we stop now due to lack of funds, we lose six months time invested into treatment, the money we've already spent on said treatment, and the chance to conceive sooner rather than later.

If we continue, we are faced with paying in the next month thousands of dollars out-of-pocket that we simply don't have at the crucial time it's needed.

Essentially, we cannot continue without aid. We desperately want to continue and feel so very close to experiencing the joy of another pregnancy. Spurred on by a few supportive friends, we are reaching out to our community to ask for help.

Each infertility appointment is $570, needed at the time of the appointment. The next appointment cannot be scheduled if there is a charge on the patient's account. In total, the Doctor has estimated that if all goes according to plan, six appointments will be needed before transferring to an OB.

Hence the total need of $3,420. It covers six appointments. No more, no less. If we don't get pregnant the first round, we will already have completed most of the expensive medical work, and will have enough time to save for another 1-2 appointments.

Dear community, please prayerfully consider if this is a need you can readily support with the urgency that it requires. It is a humbling experience to ask this of you. And it is so beautiful to be vulnerable with our community, knowing that we will not be shamed or seen as less for our need.

Thank you for joining us in a process that is intimate, bitter-sweet, full of memories of loss and of gain, and most importantly, of God's faithfulness.

If you can't give financially, we would sincerely appreciate your prayers as we walk through this process, including the outcome of continued treatment. Pray for God's peace in our hearts, patience in the process, and deeply rooted faith despite potential pain and loss. Also pray for opportunities for Megan to share her testimony with those who have need for encouragement in their own infertility journey.

Praising God for His mighty deeds and faithfulness,

Love,

Josh, Megan and Jolene Morken
