Dear Family & Friends,

Greetings from Wamena.

Last Wednesday, we laid our beloved mother to rest beside our father, giving her the farewell she truly deserved. It was a deeply emotional and bittersweet moment—one filled with love, grief, and gratitude for the time we had with her.

Now, as we process this immense loss, we are also facing financial challenges in covering the costs of building the cemetery, labor, food, and the remaining expenses still owed. After our father’s passing just nine months ago, we had already spent a significant amount on his funeral, and now, we find ourselves in another difficult situation.

Elia and I are currently on unpaid leave and have been supporting our younger siblings to ensure their education continues. Our older siblings have struggled to find stable work after taking time off to care for our father. This has left us in a position where we are doing everything we can, but we are still facing a shortfall of around $30,000 AUD.

We are beginning construction on the headstones for both Mom and Dad. Seeing their final resting place take shape brings us comfort, knowing we are creating something that will honor them for generations to come.
