Morin Family Flooding Damage

Hi, my name is Alicia and I am writing on behalf of my brother, Peter Morin, his wife Luki and their family. On Tuesday evening, September 12th, they had massive flooding that burst through their basement door and ruined their entire basement and it's contents with 5 feet of water in under an hour. Their basement was finished and included their daughter Leela's bedroom, a family living area with multiple electronics, a laundry room, full bathroom and work room. In the past 2 days they have lost tens of thousands of dollars of possessions that are not covered by their home insurance as flood damage is considered "an act of God". Besides their physical possessions including their HVAC system, water heater, washer, dryer, fridge/freezer and other electronics, they lost and incredible amount of irreplaceable personal keepsakes like photos, children's artwork and inherited family items, stereos and furniture.

Many wonderful friends and family have rushed to aid in salvaging what could be recovered. They helped emptying items out of the basement, tearing out shelving, drywall, carpet, padding and taking the basement down to the studs. There is still so much to be done and the bills will add up quickly. We have been asked for ways to help and at this point financial support will make the most difference as they rebuild a huge portion of their home and replace all the necessary items (which also includes one of their cars which was totaled in the flood) while they try to deal with the loss of so many sentimental possessions.
