Mori Vega recover from her stroke!

My mom has lived through three bouts of cancer (breast, kidney and rectal), a heart attack, a broken hip and more. We’re a very proud family and would never ask for help, but November of 2025 we lost our rock and have been unsteady ever since.

On Monday, March 16th, my mom suffered from a left-sided ischemic stroke. Unfortunately we had no way of knowing how early we caught it, doctors were unable to administer the necessary drug to diminish long lasting effects.

We need help preparing the house for all the new changes like a hospital bed, wheelchair, walker. Then there’s private physical and speech therapists because we live on a farm in the middle of nowhere. My mom already lived with my family, but now we’re also going to have to make big changes to care for her 24/7.

I know very few people who read this will have ever met my mom, but if you had you’d know she’s the type of woman who would always do without to give to others, she would give the shirt off her back if it meant she could show a bit of Gods love to someone in need. And if you know me, then you know her because everything I am is because of her.

UPDATE:

03/28

Just wanted to post a quick update that we've been able to use the funds raised to rent a hospital bed for six months. And someone in our community lent us a wheelchair and a walker. We'll be using the money raised to hire a physical therapist and speech therapist to come to the house (which we're still looking for but will post update when we find them) .

UPDATE:

03/30

My mom is home! They released her on the 28th and was able to come home. We've already seen a huge advancement in her being home. (We like to think it's due to the joys of eating something other than hospital food.)

So far her speaking has improved a lot and she's even been able to move her right arm. Mom's also able to eat solids and drink from a cup again! We still have to monitor just how much but her coughing is almost gone.
She's working so hard on getting better not just for herself but for her grandkids.

Today they had to put a 30 day HOLTER (cardiac event monitor) which cost $450USD.

Please keep sharing our GoFundMe as we don't know many more "surprise" medical costs are going to come up.
