2 years ago, I experienced something that I never thought would happen to me; they say that you're always one bad fall away from disability but I never thought it would happen at such a young age. For 2 years, doctors ignored the concerns I had about my mobility after falling up the stairs at my old apartment, until it reached the point where I was working on my feet and my mobility began to seriously decrease.
I finally was able to get in with a care team that took my concerns seriously, but unfortunately, my condition looked pretty bad. To put it simply, my ACL has turned into mucus and is no longer stable. I struggle to walk for extended periods of time, experience random stings of pain, and am unable to live the life I want to live.
Hopefully, this ACL replacement surgery I am about to undergo will restore my quality of life and get me back to living a full life where I can walk, run, and engage in an active and healthy lifestyle.
Like many jobs for people my age, I am ineligible for disability pay. This puts a strain on my family who partially depends on my income for groceries and housing, because my mom is also currently disabled. I will be on crutches and unable to work for atleast a month, possibly two, and my little family is going to need all of the support we can get.
Whether your support is financial or emotional, we will appreciate everything that is offered to us. It's going to be a rough recovery process, but I have faith that my family and friends are going to have my back. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and an even bigger thank you to everyone who is willing and able to pitch in.
