Morgan's Kidney Replacement Fund

A message from Debra:          

 On February 1st, my 11 year old baby girl Morgan was rushed to the ER at Saddleback Memorial Hospital due to her vomiting. After multiple tests and to the our horror we learned that she was in renal kidney failure. 

She was then taken by ambulance to CHOC in Orange.  There she stayed for 12 days.  We were then told that with all of the tests and Morgan’s 15% kidney function, coupled with their experience, that Morgan would have to have 6 to 12 months of daily dialysis and then a kidney transplant.  

Morgan had the peritoneal catheter surgically implanted in her abdomen on February 8th so that daily dialysis can be performed. I had 2 weeks Monday thru Friday, 5 hour a day training so that I could do this at home for my precious girl.  

 I tell you all the facts above as if I am telling you a story... simply because I’ve had to go within myself and “just do the next indicated step.” 

I believe it was 2 days before Morgan was discharged from the hospital that I received confirmation that the firm I worked for would not be holding my position for me any longer.  Most families are a two income household, so this was just another added burden to our current devastating circumstances. 

Weekly doctor appointments, labs, nightly dialysis, dispensing and adjusting of nine (9) different medications daily and care can be all consuming.  We are surrounded by so much love and support and through it all know that we are blessed.  I have hope.

Most important to me is the health of my child.  She is okay and will be okay.  My faith knows this; however the daily struggles financially and emotionally are very real.
