My name is Ashley Nadeau and I am a close family friend of Melissa White, Cheri Duncan, and Morgan Duncan. I have set up this fundraising account on behalf of the family who is greiving the loss of Morgan, who passed away in a fire just before this past Thanksgiving.
On top of funeral expenses, the family also is in need of a new home as Cheri did not have insurance coverage on the property. In addition, Melissa will be establishing a memorial garden and park on the site of the fire.
All funds raised will go directly to Melissa White, Morgan's older sister, who is taking the lead on rebuilding the famiy's lives after this horrific tragedy.
A house fire swept through Morgan and Cheri Duncan's home Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Old Town neighborhood just west of downtown Topeka.
The fire was reported at 8:19 a.m. but by the time fire crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed in flames.
Cheri made it out of the house safely, but Morgan, 18, couldn’t escape and died in her bedroom.
This emotionally trying time is exacerbated by the fact that the family did not have insurance on their home. Cheri's home, money, all her belongings, and her youngest child are gone.
