Morgan Shoaf Memorial Fund
Many of you who are my neighbor or attend Grand Oak Elementary have heard of the tragic and unexpected passing of Morgan Shoaf. Morgan was our next door neighbor for 5 years and my daughter Quinn's first and dearest friend. Morgan was like a big sister to Quinn and spent countless hours playing, making art and doing science experiments in our home. She was not my daughter, but I would have been proud to call her mine.
Parts of her story aren't mine to tell; this kid had a lot of bad cards dealt her way but always out played her hand. She was so resilient and the happiest child. Morgan was wicked smart, in the Talented program at her school and a classroom favorite with any teacher who had the pleasure of instructing her. She was full of joy and brought smiles to everyone who was lucky to know her and a beautiful artist. Most importantly, Morgan had the biggest heart. When other children and schoolmates speak of Morgan, it is first and foremost of her kind heart and generous spirit.
Morgan and her brother Chris have been raised by their grandparents since their mother's passing three years ago. They are retired and on a fixed income and never anticipated having to bare the burden of planning a funeral. We have set up a fund locally with SunTrust to raise funds for Morgan's memorial and to help support Chris in his grieving process. If Morgan's story and beautiful life touch your heart, please consider contributing to her final expenses. Her medical bills are going to be extremely high as well and we are hoping to raise $10,000 to offset these and other expenses. If you live in the Charlotte metro area you can go to any SunTrust and ask to make a deposit to the Morgan Shoaf Memorial fund.
We love Morgan dearly and miss her Terribly
