My bestie Morgan Kelly has been diagnosed with a rare lung disease, LAM (lymphangioleiomyomatosis), for the past 5 years. While on a long awaited girls trip in Key West, Mogli’s lung collapsed and she had to go by ambulance to the very small Lower Keys Medical Center. She ended up getting a medical transport to Miami hospital Monday (what you might have seen on her Snapchat), and had a pleuradesis surgery on Friday. While in surgery, they discovered an infected area and had to remove part of her left lung. Today is her 11th day and counting in the hospital and she is still on high flow oxygen in the ICU. Pneumonia is complicating the healing process, but we will toast Destiny’s Child, “Survivor” to that and know she will get through.

Morgan can not fly due to air pressure on the lungs, so she has an uncomfortable 24 hour drive back to IL ahead of her when they release her. The first thing she sent the girls after her surgery was appropriately a Taylor Swift lyric, “I can tell that it’s going to be a long road”.

I am asking above all for your prayers for her healing and comfort - you can imagine the post op for this type of major surgery on a vital organ is rough. The mental load it brings is pretty heavy as well.

We have raised money for the LAM foundation before, but this time we are raising money for Morgan to alleviate some of the financial burden this illness is leaving her with. She has been/will continue to be out of work, was forced to use out of network hospitals, ambulance ride(s), the list goes on… it’s the last thing we want her worrying about but naturally among the heaviest on her mind. We just want her to focus on healing and not the scary adult side effects that come with such a serious health scare.
