MoreySmith abseil for Maggie’s & Blind Veterans
MoreySmith is supporting two amazing charities close to its heart, Maggie's Centres and Blind Veterans UK. Twelve brave designers and architects with a head for heights (and jelly legs) will be abseiling 165m from the top of Broadgate Tower on Saturday 14th September.
Our fearless fundraisers include; Beth Dawson, Colin Anderson, Emma Preston-Barnes, Etienne Sharp, Funmbi Adeagbo, Kizzy Wood, Linda Morey-Burrows, Max Morey-Burrows, Rholdah Cameron-Hayes, Robert Percy, Rosie Ford and Will Nock.
Rholdah, who joined MoreySmith in 2016, is currently undergoing treatment for cancer and has found her local Maggie’s Barts an invaluable resource. She’s a huge inspiration to us all and the whole team is delighted to support her and raise as much money as we possibly can!
In her own words, Rholdah explains:
"I am doing the abseil to raise funds for both Maggie’s Centres and Blind Veterans UK and also to commemorate my thirtieth chemo session. I am very fortunate that while my cancer is not curative it is manageable and I have been part of a clinical trial which has resulted in some fantastic outcomes. My tumours have shrunk by more than 70% since I started the trial on 28th Dec 2018, and I am hopeful that they will be all clear before 28th Dec 2019. Maggie’s have been an amazing and supportive part of my journey. I have received plenty of support and help over the past months and by supporting the Blind Veterans charity I am happy to be able to give some support to others. All the money raised will go directly to charity and I will be grateful for all your help! Thank you so much in advance for your generosity.”
MORE INFORMATION
Maggie’s Barts opened in December 2017 on the grounds of St Bartholomew’s Hospital in the City and they are already supporting up to 130 people every day. The center provides support to anyone with cancer and their loved ones.
Maggie’s helps people to see a way through their cancer experience so that life begins to feel less overwhelming and more manageable. By developing techniques to deal with cancer, people are better able to manage the stress of a cancer diagnosis, get the very best out of their medical treatment, live with the consequences of having had cancer and most importantly ‘not lose the joy of living in the fear of dying’.
