Kuira ba! (Hello in Raramuri)

GAWI - meaning "Mother Earth" - is a VR film co-created with the Rarámuri in Northern Mexico. It is an immersive dream-like experience into the Raramuri cosmovision to heal Mother Earth and ourselves.

Up until today we have completed a 360 film (premiered in Italy!), created an ethical checklist for storytelling, and facilitated workshops on self-representation and indigenous ecological wisdom in Mexico and overseas. Now we envision GAWI blooming in the Raramuri territory and generating tangible benefits for the raramuri storytellers. Would you help us make this happen?

With your support we plan to:

Train at least 10 rarámuri community leaders on the use of Virtual Reality headsets
Run at least 3 raramuri-led GAWI exhibitions in Chihuahua during 2024
Design and set up 1 permanent exhibition of GAWI in Creel, Chihuahua to benefit the local communities.
Create cardboard VR viewers so the raramuri storytellers can generate a fair income from sharing their culture with tourists visiting their territory
Cover travel costs for raramuri representatives to attend 1 international and 1 national event where GAWI is exhibited.

1,000 USD- Round travel for one raramuri representative to spread their ancestral message overseas.
500 USD - Speakers and projector for community screenings
400 USD - 1 VR headset to take GAWI to schools and community gatherings
250 USD - 25 cardboard VR viewers to share GAWI in large groups in Chihuahua
100 USD - Hosting a community screening of 2D and 360 films (food and drinks sourced locally)
50 USD - VR Technical training for one raramuri community member
25 USD - Ramauri translation services for 1 training session
10 USD - High quality photo printing for physical exhibition
