Mikey Mackey is a beautiful 3-year-old boy diagnosed with an extremely rare genetic disorder called MeCP2 Duplication Syndrome. The MeCP2 protein plays a big role in regulating brain function. When it is duplicated, it can cause brain dysfunction and physical impairment.
Symptoms of MeCP2 Duplication Syndrome (M2DS) include infantile hypotonia, delayed psychomotor development, impaired speech, abnormal or absent gait, epilepsy, spasticity, gastrointestinal motility problems, recurrent infections, and early death. Signs of this disorder are often confused with autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. Doctors did not figure out Mikey had M2DS until he was about 2 and a half years old. Now that we know what his condition is, we can make impactful moves with any and all help we can get.

Mikey just recently had a long and hard time in the hospital for over a month. He stayed tough and finally made it home for his third birthday and just in time for baseball season (Go Cubs Go)! He has a long road ahead of him but thank goodness for his loving family, naturally strong will, and beautiful soul.
Mikey has two amazing parents, Branden and Tara Mackey, and a fun-loving older sister, Izzy. Branden is a Marine and the family is currently stationed in California, living on base at Camp Pendleton.

Mikey has a great support system thanks to his loving family. In order to support him and give him the best life, the Mackey family needs your help. The goal would cover just some of what Mikey and his family need. Medical expenses, equipment, and other support services need to be paid for.
It is so important we give Mikey all the help he deserves so he can live his life to the fullest! Any donation small or large is greatly appreciated, more than you could ever know.
