Moose’s Prosthetic Leg Fund
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Jade - Moose’s guardian. I have been trying to raise and save the money to buy Moose a prosthetic leg via the TikTok creators fund. The video has not been a huge money earner, however has been a huge success at getting Moose’s story out there.
I was very reluctant to set up a go fund me and really wanted to ‘earn’ the money ourselves but we’ve had a huge influx of messages and comments of people asking us to set one up so they can donate to Moose’s cause.
We had a consultation with 3D Pets on 3rd September who believe he is a good candidate for a prosthetic from themselves so we’re hopeful he his will be as beneficial for him as we believe it will be!
Disclaimer - all money raised via the TikTok video, and this link will go towards the cost of a prosthetic, receipts will be posted as proof, and any thing we raise in excess of the total amount will be donated to go towards supporting other disabled pets in need just like moose. If you are not in a position to financially support that is absolutely fine, you can help make a difference by engaging with our videos on TikTok via the creators fund✨
Moose’s story:
Moose is only 2 years old but his journey hasn’t been easy. Abused as a puppy and left tied to a bus stop, Moose lost his leg at the expense of his previous owners abuse. He’s been through so much but Moose has never gave up and that’s what we love most about him. He found his forever home with us after being saved from euthanasia and we helped him through all of his rehabilitation after losing his leg, but his challenges didn’t stop there.
In December of last year he was characterised as a banned type of dog which now means he legally has to be kept on lead, which may not be a big deal to most but for a dog that rely’s on momentum this has been really difficult for him to adapt to.
In February of this year fell dangerously unwell and was diagnosed with Addison's disease, which requires constant medication to manage. His Addisons caused for him to present with neurological symptoms and not only did he struggle with his co-ordination for a while after this collapsing episode he also lost a lot of his muscle mass during the time it took him to be diagnosed. We’ve been working tirelessly with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to regain his strength and stamina again, but he’s just never fully bounced back to how he was before he fell unwell. And very recently, his tail… his overly happy little tail that he wagged so much he split open also had to be amputated a few months ago.
The past year and a half with him has felt like one disaster after another but we’re holding out hope he can continue to have a good quality of life. A prosthetic leg has the potential to change everything for Moose. It could give him a chance to run comfortably, get back out on the hikes he once loved, to play, and to feel like a dog again while also taking some pressure off his joints to prevent the early onset of joint problems as much as possible.
Prosthetic legs aren’t cheap but would be so worth the cost for the improvement it may have on his life – they cost around £1500 and there are very few companies who make them. But you can help Moose without spending a penny. Just by watching his videos, you’re helping us raise money through the TikTok Creator Fund. After popular demand on TikTok we’ve opened up a go fund me link for those that want to financially support the cause too.
We can’t thank you all enough for the love and support we have experienced since we posted the video, it really does fill our hearts with joy to know there are so many people out there that are rooting for him and that from the kindness of strangers on the internet, we may be able to improve his life in a way we financially can’t afford alone right now!
