Help My Sweet Little Moo Live Pain-Free
Goal: To raise as close to $4,700 as possible to cover Moo’s surgery
Little Moo is 20 years old, and he is the sweetest little purr-baby on the planet. He purrs and purrs like a tiny little motor. His favourite thing in the world is to be picked up, placed on your shoulder, and carried everywhere, or to curl up right on top of you. He has always been my little baby.
He is also a very social little cat who loves both dogs and humans. Little Moo often greets guests at the top of the driveway and then proudly chaperones them into the house, as if he is personally hosting their visit. He greets people with gentle head-butts and a cute little chirping meow that melts hearts.
He does not run anymore, but he is still mobile, alert, and happy. He loves to sunbathe, eat, watch the world go by, and enjoys every bit of life he can. Aside from his eye, he is in remarkable health for his age. Most of my cats have lived to 23 or 24, and I truly believe Little Moo has some wonderful years ahead of him.
For the last three years, I have been managing ongoing eye inflammation along with eyelid crusting, scabbing, and bleeding. I tried everything I could to keep him comfortable and avoid surgery, but nothing has fully relieved the condition or the pain. Now, after years of care and failed attempts to alleviate it, we have discovered that it is most likely SCC (squamous cell carcinoma), a type of skin cancer affecting the tissue around his eye and eyelids.
This Wednesday, Little Moo is scheduled for surgery to remove the affected eye and the surrounding damaged tissue, including the eyelids. I have been reassured that pets recover from this remarkably well and adapt very easily to life with one eye. Moo will still have his other eye and, if all goes well, should be able to return to enjoying his life pain-free and living out his life pain-free until it is his time. If, during the surgery, the Opthomologist finds that the cancer has compromised any muscle tissue or bone, I have made the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully so he never wakes up to pain or distress. If it is only affecting the superficial skin, then the surgery will go ahead.
The costs are:
Eye and tissue removal surgery: $4,700
Required oncology: $700+
Overnight stay: $450
This does not include medications and follow-up care. I know times are tough for everyone, and this is a really difficult thing to ask. In the past, I have donated to many GoFundMe campaigns for friends and people I know, sometimes only able to give a small amount. I believe that if enough people can give just a little, it could be enough to help Little Moo get the surgery he needs. Every little bit truly helps.
If you are able to help, I would be so deeply grateful. If you cannot donate, sharing this page means just as much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my sweet boy.
If you have any questions about Little Moo’s surgery or his care, please feel free to leave them in the donation comment box and I will do my best to answer.
