We are raising money for Chris and Angie. Angie is pregnant not only with her first child but her first and second. Unfortunately, the twins have a condition known as twin to twin transfusion. Because the hospital that treats this condition is out of her insurance network, there is a likely possibility that the medical bills will be in excess of $35,000.  Any amount you can give to support the Moore family would be greatly appreciated.

So the Moore Twins have had an interesting few days...

On Thursday, I went in for my regular two-week ultrasound at EVMS and within a few minutes I could tell something was going horribly wrong. The doctor was called in, no one was telling me much, and there was nothing I could understand from what they were saying to each other. I was taken into a room where the doctor explained that our girls had Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). Baby A had almost no fluid in her amniotic sac, and Baby B had too much. I was given the option of being referred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) or John's Hopkins for laser surgery to correct the blood flow between the twins. I chose CHOP and before I'd driven out of the parking lot at EVMS, I got a call telling me to be in Philly for an 8:30 am appointment the next day.

Chris drove us up the Eastern Shore through the night and we got to Philly at 1:30 Friday morning. Once we arrived at CHOP, we had approximately 6 hours of sonogram/fetal echocardiograms. We then met with our doctor, Julie Moldenhauer, the head of the department. She went through the details of the procedure and where our girls were at that moment. About an hour later, I was on the table and under the knife.

The procedure went very well, but shortly afterwords the doctors became concerned that Baby B's amniotic sac had a tear/perforation, causing her to lose amniotic fluid. We were terrified that we could lose both babies that night, but all we could do was wait... Thankfully the evening was uneventful. We went for a sonogram Saturday morning and the doctor felt that it confirmed a leak for Baby B. They decided to keep me overnight again and check Sunday morning. When we went into the sonogram on Sunday we got much better news. Both babies' fluid levels and the blood flow to Baby A had improved and we were allowed to check out of the hospital. It was all good news!

Currently, we are staying at the Ronald McDonald House across the river in NJ. I am on bedrest - I can't even go downstairs to eat! Thankfully Chris has turned out to be an excellent waiter!! I'm allowed to sit in the lounge chairs and walk to and from the bathroom, that's about it.

We go back to CHOP tomorrow morning for another sonogram check, and again on Friday. We are hoping to see a continued increase in Baby A's fluid and blood flow from the placenta and a continued increase in Baby B's fluid showing that any perforation to her sac is healing!
