My name is Rebecca and I’m requesting some help to cover emergency vet bills for one of our beloved cats, Moon.
She is our eldest cat, turning 13 in September and has earned the nickname “Mama Moon”. Moon looks after all the animals and will clean their faces, snuggle with people and animals alike, and is all around one of the most loving and sweet cats you could meet. She might look grumpy, but it adds to her charm and is usually purring up a storm!
She has been to the vet three times in about a week’s time, two of those visits were emergency/after hours. This increases the cost of her care exponentially. So far, we have spent $3000 on the three visits.
They have done multiple rounds of bloodwork, x-rays, urinalysis, and ultrasounds to figure out what’s going on. We are waiting for the ultrasound results & have not yet pinpointed a definitive diagnosis.
We have tried a handful of medications to support her symptoms which have included refusing to eat, then vomiting everything within minutes. The medications seem to be working because right now, she is stable. We are incredibly grateful!
We have no idea what to expect until we have a confirmed diagnosis, & some of the possible causes of her symptoms will require continued care.
My partner and I work hard to take care of ourselves and our animals, but this year has been rough! Between my own medical emergency of breaking my leg which required surgery and a cast for 8 weeks, and waiting for my work permit, I have not been able to work. My partner Cody has been working tirelessly to cover all our regular expenses. The emergency vet bills were not in the cards or budget right now (not that they ever are). I charged everything so far to my credit card to make sure Moon has been able to receive the medical care she needs.
We have received a handful of private donations so far, for which we are extremely thankful!
