We are Moonrise Theatre.
Together, we are working to create an environment that will excite and engage people on and off stage. Our theatre will provide high-quality productions where the participants feel professional, safe, and focused. Where the process is important, and the product is something to be truly proud of.
This year, we are using staged readings of thought-provoking plays to fundraise for 2026, which we are planning to fill with a complete season of fully-produced shows.
Our first staged reading, which is set for August 15th and 16th (mark your calendars!), will be Shirley Lauro’s “A Piece of My Heart”. A timeless exploration of the price everyone pays for international conflict, Lauro’s work details women’s contributions to the Vietnam War.
In a time of dramatically increasing global conflict, it is deeply important that we take time to consider the ramifications of the United States’ involvement in conflicts abroad. How does military involvement impact citizens, culture, and those serving their country?
These themes and more are featured in “A Piece of My Heart.”
In order to secure the rights for “A Piece of My Heart”, finalize our nonprofit status, and prepare for our 2026 season, we need your help! Expenses add up quickly. Before we can apply for grants and seek larger donations, we need to start small. Anything you can contribute makes a difference (really!). $2 or $200, it helps, and we need it. Put your money towards a good cause: The creation of captivating and important art.
With a donation of any amount, you’ll receive a reserved seat at “A Piece of My Heart”.
August is too busy for you? Save a record of your donation to later receive free admission to any Moonrise Theatre production!
