Moon Water Cafe

Hi,
My name is Shannon.  For the past 20 years or so I have been fortunate enough to have lived in the City and Peabody Park neighborhoods.  Throughout this time, I have noticed that this unique enclave is made up of an eclectic array of people and that a true sense of community begins on our own front porches.

Im taking this opportunity to reach out to my friends, neighbors and family to help me pursue a business endeavor I have thought about for years.  A place that would nourish our neighborhoods.  A Cafe.  As luck would have it,  I have been given a chance to create just that.

Here is what I’m planning on.  Morning coffee with beans sourced from Acoca Coffee,  a couple of organic teas like turmeric and kombucha along with a healthy blended drink.  Freshly made quiche, overnight oatmeals and baked goods.  All prepared by yours truly.

In the evening, small plates to enjoy in the cafe with a glass of wine or pint of locally crafted beer.    Along with that,  freshly  baked breads to accompany a salad or soup to take home to the family.   The food menu will change from week to week.  Partially depending on the season, and partially because I want to make what most will enjoy.  I will utilize local vendors as much as possible.  The food and drinks,  besides the beer and wine will be available to enjoy in the cafe, or to take with.  I am hoping the city will approve of beer/wine sales on a retail basis.  That’s still in the works.

The location of the space is part of the building next to the 602 house.  Previously Gentle Paws on Lawe street. In addition to the cafe,  there is a locally owned business called Neighborhood and we’re looking forward to some collaborations that would even further enhance the neighborhood.

Even though I’m looking to start this Cafe as frugally as possible,  the costs of starting the business are adding up quickly.  Besides using the funds I have saved,  I could use your help.  If you could find it in your heart to give, I would be ever so grateful.  I won’t be offering t-shirts or any other needles merchandise in return,  but a place to start or end your day and enjoy our neighborhood friendships along with food made with love.  My goal is to have the space open the beginning of summer.  By then, we will have survived another Wisconsin winter and will be looking forward to catching up.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for giving to a place long overdue.  Oh, and please spread the word if you believe in this.  Hope to see you all soon!
