Help us honor a forgotten Vietnam War hero

Greetings from Levy Park Inc., 501(c)(3) is teaming up with the Brothers Beyond the Perimeter Heroes Project, to raise funds to properly honor the memory of Billy Sonnier, who bravely gave his life in service to our country in Vietnam.

Please help support the effort to upgrade the gravesite of SP4 Billy Sonnier who was KIA at LZ Xray. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) for Valor while holding the line in C Company in the desperate fight on the morning of the second day.

A Mel Gibson movie — “We Were Soldiers” — was

made of the historic battle, but a visitor to Sonnier’s

grave site would never know that he had helped win

that brutal fight.

A group of Vietnam veterans and other patriots

from Southwest Louisiana is working to correct that

oversight. Our goal is to replace his nondescript

grave and headstone with a beautiful black granite

monument to his valor and sacrifice so that future

generations will be inspired to serve their country in

defense of freedom, as Billy Sonnier did.
