Fredy Gonzales, 58, was a strong and hardworking man who always put others above himself and has touched the lives of many who got to know his joyful nature and contagious smile. Fredy was a leader, a devoted father, a loving husband, a caring friend and an overall open-minded being. He always held his chin up, moved forward, and looked at the bright side at times where most people would not be able to. He was full of life and was a bright center of light that could not be easily put out. His love for God and family made him the man that committed his entire life to his loved ones and bringing everyone together. No matter the distance from his life in New York to his birth place in Peru, every year he would always go visit parents for occasions such as their birthdays, mother's day, Father's day, or on sudden days that they needed him. Last year in March, His father Manuel passed away at the age of 100 shortly after his birthday but his mother, Faustina lives at the miraculous age of 101 and always looked forward to seeing her youngest son visit at such a great distance. Fredy was the kind of man that we had hoped to live as long as his parents and be able to experience the joy of holding the grandchildren he always prayed to see one day. Unfortunately, it was not in God's plan for the beginning this ominous year.
On April 7 2020, Our beloved father had left this world much sooner than we had expected. After returning from his trip to Peru for our grandfather's mass, he became one of the many victims of COVID-19 and lost his battle three days after being admitted to the hospital. Even during his final days he did not want to worry his loved ones so very few people including us, his children, were aware that he was admitted and he was determined to come back home once he was better. Our hopes for his return and to hug him one last time were all taken after one phone call from the hospital. Family and friends were devastated when the news of his passing came to light. We all had lost a kind soul that day but God had also welcomed an angel to be at peace with him.
Due to pandemic regulations, the memorial service and burial only allowed 10 people of immediate family to be present and to keep a certain distance for safety reasons. It was not the ideal service we had expected to have for him but the hearts and prayers from those who couldn't attend were surely reached and heard by Fredy from above. The impression to many people left by him will live on and he will be dearly missed. We will remember his warm hugs and goofy laugh we would hear almost everyday. Things will not be the same anymore but he will continue to live in our hearts and his memory will carry on for those who dearly loved him.
As his 3 children, We kindly ask for your support during these difficult times. We hope to raise enough towards the goal to be able to cover the funeral expenses and provide our father with the monument to honor his memory as our final gift to him. We understand that times are very difficult right now so any contribution or sharing this page is greatly appreciated.
We thank you for your time and pray you all stay safe!
