Hello,

My name is Jennifer. Monty, our loving canine companion and best friend, needs your help. He is a 12 year old, pure bred American Chocolate Lab. Monty came into our family, as a 1 year old pup, full of life and love to give, and boy is he ever full of love. He has melted our hearts from day 1. He's brought so much joy into our lives, and it breaks my heart knowing we cannot give him what he needs without getting help.
Our family is crushed knowing that he is suffering, and we cannot do anything about it.
We fear he is in the beginning stages of bloat. Which means twisted stomach seems to be inevitable, which is fatal without emergency surgery. And our family, does not have the financial means to save his life, We are heartbroken beyond words.

I need to please ask for help from our community members. This is not easy to do, but the alternative, is too heartbreaking to bear. No animal should endure suffering because their human companions don't have the means to provide the care they need.

Monty has given so much love to everyone he comes into contact with, He truly loves everyone. He is a gentle giant. Give him treats, cuddles, car rides and walks, and he is your best friend for life. I am asking on his behalf that he be given the support he needs in return. Any little bit helps! Please share this link on your social media accounts, and get the word out there, for Monty. It would mean the world to us.

Thank you for taking the time out to read this entry. It means more than you will ever know. My pride is swallowed, and my heart is broken. I humbly ask for whatever help that you can give!
**Update** The vet suspects he has Cushing's Disease. We need to raise money for the bloodwork and tests needed to check the level of function of his internal organs, and to see if there is something else going on.

Thank you everyone for all of your support in helping get Monty the care he needs. Your support truly means everything to us. I will update you as more information becomes available.

***Update*** We heard back from the vet about the x ray and bloodwork results. There are no red flags, but she wants us to count his breaths for 15 seconds when he is resting. She raised the dose of gabapentin as well. So he's on Metacam and gabapentin.

We're still trying to figure out what's keeping Monty up all night.

Thank you everyone for all your support. It means the world to us. We will keep you updated with any new information as we figure it out. Any funds raised will continue to go towards Monty's ongoing care. Thank you so much!

***Update*** April 9th 2026
Hi everyone! :) Monty is doing okay, so it's no longer urgent care that he needs. He is up at night still, so our guess at the moment is that he's dealing with dementia. The vet will be monitoring his liver as well because of elevated enzymes. We bought him some omega 3-6-9 today as well as some higher quality food to help with his muscle loss and brain function. We noticed some more playfulness in him , and standing on his hind legs during the play, which he hasn't done in several months. The metacam is evidently working for his pain, which is wonderful to see.

So, the funds from this fundraiser will be going towards his vet appointments, medications and supplements and the higher quality food that we have started buying him.

Thank you so much everyone for your ongoing support. We feel incredibly grateful to each and every one of you. Your compassion during this time has been tremendously helpful. It's been very hard to watch Monty go through this, and has been very heartbreaking. We are truly grateful beyond words for your, support it has made a huge difference for us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please continue to share and donate. This journey to better Monty's health is ongoing as we figure out the cause of his sleepless and restless nights.

*** Update *** April 10th 2026 Hi everyone! We talked to the vet yesterday. She wants to see Monty again in a couple weeks for more bloodwork to check liver values.
She also suggested Xrays with sedation to check his heart and lungs. I'm just waiting for a price on that to let everyone know. So that's what is next on the list that we will be raising money to do for him. (Spoke with the vet's office. The cost for bloodwork and xrays is $822 taxes included.)

Thank you everyone!

***Update April 19th 2026***

Hi everyone! :) Thank you so much for all your support we couldn't have done this without you. If it wasn't for all of you, Monty would still be suffering in pain, with no medication and no answers. So, thank you so much for everything, it truly means more than we can ever express.

He needed refills on his meds the other day which was $357. We talked to the office at the vet's and we can have them prescribe the generic version of the medications from now on which will decrease the price significantly. :)

Monty is going to be going in for his chest xray and bloodwork on Wednesday this week. We managed to get the price of that covered for us offline, which is huge for us. We are so grateful for that assistance as well, as Monty will need ongoing care for the next few years.

He is resting a little better and playing more, so hopefully that's a sign of less pain and muscle being rebuilt in his back end. He's still up at night panting, so we're thinking the gabapentin is just not working for him. We will have to talk to the vet about that, once the xrays are done. Hopefully all is well with the xrays and bloodwork this week. We will keep everyone posted!

Please continue to share and support this gofundme! We are not sure what the road ahead looks like and need all the help we can get.

Thank you so much!!

❤️❤️❤️

***Update April 24th 2026***

Hi everyone!Hi everyone! Just a short update for you today. Monty had bloodwork and xrays with sedation done on April 22nd this week. The bloodwork turned up good! His liver enzymes are not up anymore!! :) The initial look that one of the Dr's had of the xrays was good. Meaning there was nothing that stood out on them, that the doctor would have been concerned about. They do suspect that something neurological is going on with his back end. We're waiting for our vet to call us with the official radiologist 's report, and we will be talking to her about next steps.
Monty is still up and down the majority of the night, panting and restless, but he hasn't lost his loveable spirit throughout all of this. He is truly one of a kind!

Thank you everyone for your support on this journey!!

❤️❤️❤️

.❤️❤️❤️

Sincerely,

Jennifer
