Last night our dear friend and local wood artist, Ron Dekok lost his rental home to a fire. The fire started at approximately 9pm in Montrose, WI on December 16, 2021. Firefighters worked tirelessly for 5 hours to save 1/2 of the home and put out the fire. Thankfully everyone made it out of the building safely.
Unfortunately, the home was insured for less than what it is worth. It is considered a total loss and will cost more than the current insurance total to remove debris and rebuild.
This home was used as Ron's primary income as he is a 74-year-old retired woodwork artist. Ron is one of the most kind, caring, and generous people we have had the pleasure of knowing. He is the type of person that will go out of his way to help others whether he knows them personally or not.
We are looking for donations to go towards the expected costs. 100% of donations will go to removal, clean up and rebuilding. Any excess monies would be donated to the affected tenants.

And because GoFundMe is asking. I am a longtime friend and previous tenant of Ron's. We lived in his wonderful community for 4 years. Our daughter knows him as Unkie Ron. We plan on writing him a check for the donations.
