Monthly bills and medical expenses for Nolan

Donation protected
I want to take a moment and let friends of ours know that our son and brother Nolan Gilchrist was in a bicycle crash Monday night. He thought he was feeling better, but yesterday had to be taken to MCR for emergency surgery.

He cracked his skull and had a slow bleed in his head. Throughout the day that caused him to start to not feel right and slur his speech. After calling Kym, and myself, I went to his apartment and found him on the ground. 911 was called and he was transported to MCR where they had a trauma team waiting for him. After a scan they found the bleed and rushed him immediately into surgery.

They were able to control the bleed. He has been and is currently sedated and intubated.

His morning scan showed expected improvement. He had a significant shift of his brain from the pressure, but it is moving back towards centerline line. For now they are keeping him sedated and intubated. After spending the night with him at the hospital it was encouraging to see him starting to respond to commands this morning like wiggling his toes, squeezing our hands. There are going to be ups and downs, and he has a long road ahead of him, but he is strong and will make it through this.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this time.

We are at MCR, but he will not be able to have visitors other than family at this time.

I cannot thank enough the paramedics, fire, and police that showed up yesterday and got him on the way here and made sure his apartment was locked back up so I could head to hospital. The trauma surgeon, and trauma team that greeted as he arrived and took swift action to get him where he need to be. And then the care staff of PA's, Docs, Nurses, Aids, Respitory Therapists and the rest of the staff at MCR. I am fully confident that he is the best hands possible right now.

Will post updates as we can.
