For 2½ years, La’Monte fought harder than anyone I know.

He battled leukemia with courage, strength, and a faith that carried him through the darkest days. After countless hospital stays, treatments, setbacks, and victories, we finally heard the word we had been praying for — remission. It felt like we could breathe again. Like we could start rebuilding and dreaming forward.

Recently, we traveled to Colorado for what was supposed to be a routine check-up. We walked in expecting reassurance. Instead, we were met with news that completely blindsided us.

La’Monte has relapsed.

He has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) with a positive Philadelphia chromosome — an aggressive form that requires immediate treatment. Hearing those words again has been devastating. No family ever expects to fight the same battle twice.

The next step is a month of intensive treatment to get his leukemia back under control. Then, in about two months, he will undergo a bone marrow transplant. This transplant will give him the best chance at long-term healing and a cure.

Because of this, we will need to relocate to Denver for approximately four months so he can receive treatment, undergo the transplant, and remain under close medical supervision during recovery.

Four months away from home. Four months of treatments, monitoring, uncertainty — and hope. Because even in this heartbreak, we still have hope. We have seen La’Monte’s strength before. We have seen him endure more than most adults ever have to. And we believe he will fight again.

This road will not be easy. There will be long days, emotional nights, and many unknowns. But we know we are not alone. Your prayers, messages, support, and love mean more than we can put into words.

La’Monte has already proven he is a warrior. And as we step into this next chapter, we are holding tightly to faith, to hope, and to the belief that this transplant will bring lasting healing.
