We were devastated to hear the news of Melissa's passing Saturday May 26th. Following the successful birth of twins a week prior, Melissa fell victim to a rare disorder than can happen after childbirth. Melissa leaves behind her loving husband Richie, her daughter Malaya and healthy one week old twins Ellie and Finn.
It was just over a week ago that we received the news that the twins had arrived safely. As the pictures were posted and reams of well wishes came in, the image of the happy family brought a smile to my face. As a cousin I watched on the sidelines through the ongoing family preparations seeing the excitement build through the gender reveals, updates and typical nesting. We all knew how long the family of three waited for this picture perfect moment.
Melissa beamed with love for her family near and far, her friends and her work. She would brag about her daughter, niece and nephew or cousins any chance she could get. I remember sitting beside her at a bbq where she could not contain the excitement about a small win at work where she was able to make life just a bit better for others. Her stories always seemed to highlight how awesome and amazing someone else was.
At this difficult time we want to shower that same love and compassion on the Monteagudo family. We know there will be many needs in the short and long term but at this time, in lieu of flowers, we want to support financially. Funds raised will be passed on to Richie for the care of the children, particularly caring for the twins in the upcoming weeks and months. Any additional funds raised will be put towards future education needs for Ellie, Finn & Malaya.
The family appreciates your love and support at this time. Any donation is greatly appreciated.

they walk beside us everyday...
unseen, unheard, but always near,
still loved, still missed and very dear."
