"Take up your cross and follow me" - Matthew 16:24
This started off as something I wanted to do for my parents. They have been hosting mission trips to different parts of the country for 24 years now. Whether is was for disaster relief after Katrina or various other areas hit by natural disasters, or returning to the same area of the country year after year to develop relationships and help establish infrastructure, they began to feel a calling to a life of service. They work incredibly hard and deserve to live their lives they way they want to. It has since evolved as a way to help the DeLasalle Blackfeet School (www.DLSBS.org) in a very personal way. This money will be used for a down payment on a home that can be used in the future by someone else who feels the same calling.
My parents are literally going to pull up stakes, leave their jobs and live near and work at the school they believe in so much. The model of the school involves volunteers living a simple life. And I know that is what they are looking for, a simple life in service. The school has a woodshop, that has seen better days. It has great potential, it has all the tools and materials needed to be great. My father has a passion for tools, and teaching young people about working with their hands. My mother has 25 years of youth ministry experience, she is a licensed clinical social worker, and frankly has a gift for working with young people. The youth in the area, are in need of a focused enviornment. It would greatly benefit the community if we donated two lives to the cause. The town is full of great people.
So, once again, thank you to everyone who has donated so generously, and let's see if we can literally donate to people to a well deserving cause.
