Paddy’s Monster Triathlon 2022
Donation protected
Hello!!
Just over a year ago when on part furlough I might have got a little carried away with a thought “what physical challenge can I do to raise some money for worthwhile charities?”
Well after looking around at what was available in the UK I stumbled across the “Monster Triathlon” covering a distance of 1055km from Loch Ness to London!
Why you might ask?
Since my training has picked up, this is something I’ve also asked myself more than a couple of times.
Well, it’s two huge reasons both incredibly close to my heart!
Those reasons are, Kidney Research Uk www.kidneyresearchuk.org
and The Velindre Cancer Centre www.velindre.nhs.wales/velindrecc
Kidney Research offered fantastic care and support for our Gran in Devon when she required dialysis care for over 5 years before passing away in 2011.
The Velindre Cancer Centre were outstanding in their care for our Grampy in Cardiff during his 2 year battle against cancer, sadly passing away in 2012.
Not only were both charities amazing in their support for our loved ones when they needed care the most, but they continue to do outstanding work for many families every day. Making sure people are looked after and given the best quality of life, care and attention when they need it the most!
I couldn’t think of two better reasons to not only say thank you, but also give something back and go towards helping other people who might need help from such wonderful charities!!
Now a little more about the event…..
Kicking off on the 26th of June at Loch Ness I’ll be taking the plunge for a 5km (3.1miles) Swim!
Then it’s time to hit the saddle for just over 5 days and cycle from Loch Ness to Windsor covering 1000km (621.3 miles)!
To finish things off on the 2nd of July it’s trainers on for the final stretch, a 50km (31 miles) from Richmond to Windsor!
Writing it down and reading it back to myself the reality of how far out of my comfort zone I’ll be during this event has hit home! But we will get there!
All in all, I can now see why it’s called the Monster Triathlon! Let’s just hope Nessy doesn’t try to nibble my toes on day one!
With that being said I am going to be raising money via my Go Fund Me Page and will split the pot 50/50 for each charity after I’ve completed the Triathlon!!
After a tough couple of years for so many, any donations will be really appreciated!
I’ll keep everyone updated on my training and the event itself via social media!
If you wish to share this with friends/family you’re more than welcome!
Thank you for reading!
