To all family, friends, fans and loved ones,
we deeply regret to inform you of the passing of Cleve Hall or as he was lovingly known to many of his fans “Monster Man”. Cleve died unexpectedly on March 30, 2021. He left behind four daughters and two grandchildren, and he was a father in spirit to many others.
Cleve spent many years as a special makeup FX artist, foam fabricator, and horror movie actor. He was a family man, an adored father, proud grandpa and a beloved mentor. He loved movies and was a lifelong Godzilla fan. He loved working with his hands to build, paint, sculpt - everything from completing model kits to creating custom Goth Barbies for his daughters. He hoped to encourage and inspire the next generation of creatives.
One of his proudest moments was playing Godzilla in Peewee's Big Adventure. He was best known as the star of SyFy's “Monster Man” but he had been working in the entertainment industry for decades before that. He is known for his work on classic movie The Sandlot as well as his work on a number of well loved cult genre films including Nightmare, Ghoulies, Troll, Twisted Nightmare and Rollerblade Warriors in addition to working on costumes and props for popular performers and musicians including Gene Simmons and Alice Cooper. Over the past few years he devoted a lot of his free time to the restoration of a 1961 Cadillac Hearse, a project that sadly he didn’t get to finish.
Cleve’s passing left his daughters shocked, devastated and thoroughly unprepared. Cleve was not a wealthy man. He was a talented artist and craftsman whose industry has been chipped away over the decades by the entertainment industry’s shift towards computer generated FX. He had no pre-paid funeral plans, no life insurance, and almost no savings. We are trying to raise money for his funeral costs and to fulfill his wishes of being laid to rest in his family mausoleum in Jacksonville, Florida. We have the next week or so to raise money and figure out what we can do to honor him but we deeply need your help and would greatly appreciate any kindness or generosity you could show our family. Any donations you offer will be handled by his daughter and used for this purpose. Please help us give Cleve Hall the farewell he deserves.
