WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS?

Hiiii!

My name is Pilar Malo and I am an award winning indie filmmaker (it's true I swear- Women Empowerment Award recipient 2022 - New Wave Short Film Festival) and I come to you to ask for help for my newest project... MONSTER LOVE !! A poetic short story about a vampire that needs to suck the blood out of her girlfriend to stay alive- you know, a classic rom-com!! And what is a comedy without some suffering really??

Anyways! As you probably guessed it, we've been doing this for a while but not long enough to have a steady either public or private cash flow to help us continue doing it... SOOO, this is where YOU, DEAR READER, come in!! My cast and crew are all wonderful professionals who have said yes to me for far too many times without getting any financial compensation in return- and this simply cannot continue. This short is part of a series of work I've been up to for the past year to make a shinny brand new portfolio in order to make a move into real feature-film-funding territory where I will be able to continue to hire my amazing crew, for their actual day rates, for longer periods of time... But until then, I am asking for the chance to make something stunningly beautiful, wittily fun, and equal parts sexy/camp, without fully getting myself irredeemably and morbidly bankrupt.

Fair enough, that's a great question! And the answer is.... Uhmmm... Truly, why not?! There will always be another incredibly passionate, highly skilled, sweet talker, filmmaker with an outstanding original project asking you for money, and I am not arrogant enough to declare that they don't deserve your time and resource... But... I guess what I am really asking is that, today you pick us <3

Just kidding- To my cast and crew and grader and props and costume and some festivals! And I guess, ultimately to the arts! We've got Greta on the coming of age front, there is Celine on the adult situationship bits, and then you've got me- for all the unhinged fun stuff (someone has to do it...)

Consider us your weekly good deed. No need to volunteer cleaning the parks again till next week! You can calmly fall sleep knowing my crew finally got paid to be the amazing people that they are and maybe that's enough to make this old hag (you) smile.
