Small Pianos Keys for Small Hands
Donation protected
Hi there! Welcome to my Gofundme Campaign. As many of you know, I am passionate about making small keys available to musicians with small hands. Many of you also know that my own tiny hands have created a series of difficulties for me in my musical studies, including frustration and injuries.
For many years, I dreamed of hand extensions or a magically smaller piano. Imagine my surprise to find out that they exist (the pianos, not the hand extensions :)!
A piano can be retrofitted with a keyboard that is essentially 7/8 the size of a regular keyboard. This reduces the distance small hands have to stretch to play big chords, or even fairly standard intervals such as octaves. I'd really like to bring this cool technology to Calgary, as there isn't a playable 7/8 piano available anywhere in the city.
I now have the chance to purchase one of these piano retrofits for myself!
What putting a 7/8 keyboard into my piano would allow me to do:
1) Play without pain
2) Heal from current injuries (tendonitis, rotator cuff, and carpal instability)
3) Prevent further injuries in the future
4) Compose more complex music as I have a larger range of chords in my reach
5) Enjoy music!
6) Access a greater range of repertoire that I have previously had to avoid
Additionally, many of you know that I am very passionate about the availability of these keyboards and I want to give other musicians and students access to the small keys, as well as to build awareness in the musical community.
Here is a breakdown of the cost of the 7/8 keyboard retrofit:

Current and future projects these keys will help with:
1) Recording my second album
2) Hosting home concerts
3) Composing a set of variations and a cycle of piano songs
I will be very grateful for every contribution that brings me closer to this goal.
I'm happy to offer the reward levels below to express my gratitude for your generosity!
