Monique’s recovery from surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Melissa, and we’re setting up this fundraising effort to raise money to support Monique after her surgery.
Monique was diagnosed with a BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene mutation in 2019. In testing positive for this mutation, it means that she has an inherited harmful variant of the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene increasing her risk of breast cancer (at 96%) and ovarian cancer (at 98%). As a result of this diagnosis, she underwent surgery last year to remove her ovaries.
Her next surgery, the most intensive, is in March. She will be undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery and will need 8 weeks to recover. Monique is a single mom, to two incredible boys, who works multiple jobs to support and provide for her family. Because of the nature of her work (as a hair stylist and wedding coordinator) she can’t work for those 8 weeks of recovery.
To any one who knows Monique, knows she is the most caring, loyal and loving friend. She has always worked so hard to provide for herself and her family and doesn’t ask for much in return. With the past few years being such a hard season of life for her, I know she will be so grateful and appreciative for all of us to come along side her in prayer and support as she continues to fight for herself and her family.
