As many of us know, Monique has long been an advocate and caregiver for senior dogs (in addition to being a great friend, teacher, social worker, and all-around badass). Despite her many other responsibilities, she has consistently stepped up to provide a loving home for a number of canines living out their later years.

February has been a hard month for her, however. The first two weeks saw her mother hospitalized and later pass away at the age of 89. The next two weeks brought even more grief, as her beloved dog Za was hospitalized with an autoimmune issue.

Fortunately, Za has responded well to veterinary care, and was able to return home after a week of both inpatient and outpatient care. Veterinary care isn't cheap, however, and while Monique didn't hesitate in the slightest to do everything possible for her pup, she's still facing some very big bills. 

After seeing the outpouring of support for Monique during these difficulties, I asked her permission to set up a GoFundMe to help cover these expenses. She was initially hesitant - we all know what a selfless person she is - but finally agreed because she knows how much all of her friends want to provide support.
