Hello, my name is Monica Alfaro. On March 19, 2025, I went to the hospital in Alpine, TX due to blurry vision and loss of balance. The doctors did X-rays and MRI scans on me, which resulted in them finding a mass in my lungs and three large tumors in my head. I was flown to Las Palmas Medical Center in El Paso, TX. There, I remained for a total of 3 weeks. On week 2, I got scheduled for brain surgery in which they were able to remove all 3 of the tumors. I remained 1 week for recovery and was allowed to go home.
On April 24, 2025, I was finally diagnosed with stage 4 NSCLC adenocarcinoma.
After applying to many different health insurance companies, I was finally accepted to Blue Cross Blue Shield. However, this insurance doesn't activate until May 1, 2025. I still owe everything from the first and second hospital, including the flight. My husband hasn't been working at all due to him being here with me. On top of all this, there are many things this insurance won't cover.
This kind of care comes at a cost, and I can’t do it without your help.
If you are able to give financially, we are deeply grateful. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to giving me a real chance.
